Decades of Dominance

Pulaski Academy capped a decade of dominance with a state championship in 2019 and sixth of the decade.

The Bruins defeated Little Rock Christian for the Class 5A crown, which was their 126th win of the decade to mark the most successfull decade of the modern playoff era that began in 1968.

Under head coach Kevin Kelley for the entire decade, Pulaski Academy won four straight state titles from 2014 through 2017.

Greenwood, competing in Class 6A, was very close behind with five state titles and 118 wins.

The decade marked the second in a row for both Pulaski Academy and Greenwood to win at least 100 wins.

Junction City, Harding Academy, Warren, and Charleston also won at least 100 wins for the second consecutive decade.

It should be noted that in 2006 the classifications were increased from four to six, which gave more teams the possibility of reaching the playoffs and thus to win more games.
